Healing Together: Trauma-Informed Therapy for Children and Families

The Children’s Advocacy Center of Lowndes County is a safe and supportive place for children and families to begin the healing process after enduring the trauma of abuse or witnessing a violent crime. Our Clinical Team, made up of master’s-level therapists and clinical social workers, specializes in evidence-based, trauma-informed care designed to meet the unique needs of each family.

Recognizing that the impact of trauma extends to the entire family, we provide all services at no cost to children and their non-offending caregivers. Using standardized assessments and close collaboration with caregivers, our team develops personalized treatment plans tailored to each family’s needs.

Our therapists are extensively trained in evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). This highly regarded therapy model supports both children and caregivers, addressing emotional and behavioral challenges stemming from traumatic experiences. TF-CBT is recognized as a Best Practice and Model Program for treating abused and traumatized children, offering hope and healing through a collaborative and research-backed approach.

At the CAC, we are committed to helping children and families not only survive but thrive in the aftermath of trauma.

Individual, family, and group therapy is offered for both children and their non-offending family members. Specialized therapy services available include:

  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT)
  • Problematic Sexualized Behavorial TFBCT
  • Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children Specialized TFCBT
