Despite COVID-19, The CAC once again held our annual Back to School Drive to ensure our kids have the school supplies, they need to start the school year, as well as to give their caregivers one less thing to worry about. Thanks to our generous donors, we were able to stuff 50 backpacks with supplies to distribute to the children we serve to help make sure they started school prepared.
An annual campaign, our Back-to-School Drive was especially challenging this year. The pandemic meant that fewer of our corporate partners were able to hold traditional drives in their offices. In addition, in previous years we’ve enlisted volunteers to sort and pack each backpack with age-appropriate school supplies at the center but could not do so this year.
The backpacks and school supplies were distributed just in time for the remote learning start of community schools. Staff made a drive thru line at the CAC, had Kona Ice, popcorn & hotdogs to pass out to each family as they drove through.
